How insurance works on Vendalize
Every vendor on Vendalize provides a verified Certificate of Insurance for Commercial General Liability coverage, and the property owner they book is covered as an Additional Insured through the vendor's blanket endorsement. This page explains the baseline, why each piece matters, and how we verify it.
The baseline
Commercial General Liability
At least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. This is the coverage that responds if a vendor's operations cause third-party bodily injury or property damage.
Blanket Additional Insured
Vendors carry a Blanket Additional Insured endorsement (commonly ISO CG 20 33 or CG 20 38). This automatically names the property owner they book as an Additional Insured for the time they are on the property, with no paperwork on your side.
Waiver of Subrogation
The vendor's insurer waives its right to pursue recovery from the property owner after paying a claim. It keeps a routine incident from turning into a lawsuit against the host.
Primary & Non-Contributory
The vendor's policy pays first, and does not ask the property owner's insurer to chip in, for claims arising out of the vendor's operations.
In-force for the full booking
We block bookings whose end date is after the vendor's COI expiration, so coverage stays current for the full booking.

- The vendor uploads a PDF of their COI and attests to the endorsements and limits on it.
- A Vendalize reviewer opens the document and cross-checks carrier, policy number, effective dates, limits, and each required endorsement.
- Verified COIs unlock instant booking. Rejected COIs come back with specific reasons and a short path to fix and resubmit.
A note on Vendalize
Vendalize is the neutral marketplace that connects vendors and property owners. We are not named on the vendor's COI, and our service fee does not include insurance. Insurance protection flows directly from the vendor's carrier to the property owner through the Blanket Additional Insured endorsement.
